'Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40
The lord showed us the meaning of love by giving up his life to save us. He also said: ”love one another as I have loved you”. It is therefore our duty to love the people around us, especially the needy, for to love them is to love Christ himself, and to come to their aid is to aid Christ.
St Charbel Youth Association is always mindful of the plight of those who are less fortunate than us and endeavours to aid with whatever possible means the needy. Money raised from social events is used to support organisations in Australia and overseas, especially in our ancestral land Lebanon where the people are facing sever economic hardships. The organisations we support include:
- Beit Shabeb Hospital for the paralytic, Lebanon
- Em El Nour Association for drug rehabilitation, Lebanon
- Auxilia, Lebanon
- Caritas, in Australia and Lebanon
- The Smith Family
We also sponsor secondary and tertiary students in Australia and Lebanon and assist them with the cost of their education.
As well as financial support, the SCYA organizes several visits to nursing homes and hospitals’ children’s wards around Easter and Christmas time. These wonderful activities never fail to bring a smile to the face of those we visit, cheer up their spirits, and make them feel the power of God’s love.
